The Baketsu is the perfect canvas project bag for knitters who appreciate the fine balance between craft and functionality. Large enough to fit a medium-sized project, the heavy canvas exterior and clever triangular gussets lend structure that keeps the bag upright and open while you knit. Full width pocket on the exterior holds your tools while the fine weave, undyed canvas interior offers a clean and clear space for your work in progress.
The optional leather handle is crafted by Leather Works MN and has special solid brass Chicago screws to allow you add and remove your handle whenever you wish. Made of heavy bridle leather that measures approx 1/8" in thickness, the sides and backs of all the handles are lightly finished by hand to prevent wear. Unscrewing the hardware will allow you to detach the leather handle and wash your bag, or just go without the handle for a bit if you prefer.
8.5" diameter, 12" tall.
Two layers of USA milled & dyed canvas. Heavyweight canvas exterior and fine woven, undyed canvas interior.
Optional removable leather handle in natural undyed leather. Solid brass hardware in matte nickel finish. (add $20)
Smooth action YKK snaps.
Made in the USA.
Knitters Notes: The functional parts of this bag are easy to love. Clean, undyed canvas lining inside allows you to work easily. For stranded knitting, I use the four sets of snaps at the top to keep my strands separate and untangled. The versatile snap configuration of both the Baketsu and the Little Baketsu allow me to keep strands separate without tethering my project to the bag until completion. Fasten neighboring snaps together to make a channel and unsnap to release and move on. The exterior pocket fits a pattern and my Mini Knit Wallet and I love that it's machine washable once I remove the handle. When I travel I'm placing my bags on floors that are anything but clean and because I know I can wash it if I need to, I use it all the time and without fear of ruining it.
Beyond function, the thoughtful design of this bag will live up anything you want it to carry. The triangle gussets are echoed in the triangle finger/handle loops and the subtle stitch detailing at the pocket. The folded construction process makes it look deceptively simple but when you look closely it's anything but.
